JetlinerNow he takes his markAt the farthest polish off of the runwayLooking straight ahead, eager, intenseWith his sharp eyes sheenHe takes a deep, deep breathWith his flop lungsExpanding his massive vanityHis burning heart beating bid thundersThen after a few tense moments of ponderingHe roars at his utmostAnd lento beings to jobKicking the dark earth hardAnd now he begins to runKicking the dark earth harderThen he dashes, dashes like mad, like madHowling, shouting, screaming, and roaringThen with a most rampageous kickHe shakes off the earths pullgently lifting himself into the airSoaring higher and higher and higher still knifelike the sea of cloudsUp into the chandelier of stars-Naoshi KoriyamaIn this poem, Naoshi Koriyama portrays a large and powerful Jetliner as a simple runner or long jumper. It has been gainsay if Naoshi is really speaking of a long jumper, and not a runner, in this analysis I hope to prove that Naoshi is really speaking of a long jumper starting hi s run and lunging himself into the air.
